James Robert Fisk, 49, of Wiscasset, passed away on Sept. 14 at Mid Coast Hospital, in Brunswick after battling a long illness with cancer.
Born in Springfield, Vt., on Jan. 14, 1966, Jim was the son of Edwin E. Fisk Sr. and Mary Jean Konesko Fisk Gagnon. He grew up in Charlestown, N.H. before moving with his family to Brunswick where he attended Brunswick schools. During high school, he also shared a home with Bob and Pat Johnson and their family.
After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as an 82nd Air Borne Parachute Trooper and Ranger. Upon leaving the service, he began working in the field of construction. For several years he was employed by Harry S. Crooker & Son as a laborer. He also worked doing marine construction. For eleven years, he worked as a pipe fitter for Bath Iron Works. He then became self employed as a builder/contractor and during this time he volunteered for the Edgecomb Fire Department as a fire fighter.
He married Terri Foye in 1989 and they raised their beautiful daughters, Samantha and Devin in Wiscasset. His greatest enjoyment in life was being an outdoorsman, hunting and fishing, being out on the water with his best friend, Scott, creating and making art with wood and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a gifted artist with chain saw and woodworking skills. His skills also extended into the world of theater, dance, stage and costume making for his daughters and others.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his dad, Edwin E. Fisk Sr. who passed away in 1982; mom, Mary Jean Konesko Fisk Gagnon, who passed away in 2014; older sister, Barbara; and older brother, Joseph.
Jim leaves behind Terri; daughters, Samantha, and Devin, all of Wiscasset; step-father, Leo N. Gagnon of Brunswick; brothers, Richard A. Fisk of Limerick, Edwin E. Fisk Jr. of Brunswick, and Garret A. Fisk of Brunswick; stepbrother, Lee Gagnon of Portland; sister, Katherine F. Carter of Richmond and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sat., Sept. 19 at the Wiscasset Community Center, Gardiner Rd., Wiscasset. Light refreshment will be served.
