Jessie T. McCabe, 93, of Shelton, Conn., entered into rest on Sept. 19 at Branford Hospice of Connecticut. Jessie was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on April 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Magee) Cronin, and attended St. Simon Stock High School there.
She married Terence J. McCabe on Nov. 18, 1944. Together they enjoyed 69 years of marriage until his death in July 2014. She and Terry raised their seven children in Lindenhurst and Port Washington, N.Y. Jessie was employed as the dining room manager at Plandome Country Club for over 20 years.
In retirement, she divided her time between Jefferson and Indio, Cal. She enjoyed golf, travel, musical theater and singing. She especially enjoyed her lakefront home in Jefferson, watching sunsets over Damariscotta Lake.
She enjoyed meeting new people and had many friends. Her friendly smile made everyone feel welcome.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Morgan Fleming; brothers, Bill and Frank Cronin; and sister, Carolyn Halley.
She is survived by children, Noreen Capo and partner Scot Birdwhistell of Falmouth, Mass., Terence McCabe Jr. and wife Moira of Jefferson, Beth McCabe of Canton, Conn., Denise Bohl and husband John of South Salem, N.Y., Ken McCabe of Milford, Conn., Chris McCabe and wife Ruth of Corvallis, Mont., and Richard McCabe of Hong Kong; and grandchildren, Molly McCabe, husband Brian Gagnon and children Maeve and Sam of Pleasant Hill, Cal., Tom Capo, wife Allison Guillen-Capo and daughter Liliana of Pacifica, Cal., Terence McCabe of Truckee, Cal., John Bohl of Baltimore, Md., Chris Bohl and wife Lizz of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ian McCabe of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brian McCabe of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jeremiah McCabe and wife Christine of Bozeman, Mont., and Michael McCabe, wife Rachel and son Eli of Tualatin, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may greet the family from 5-7 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 22 at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton, Conn. On Friday, Sept. 23, friends are invited to St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, Conn.
