Joanne DeShazo, 67, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away peacefully at her home on April 15.
The daughter of Frank and Sophia (Amalafatano) Cormio, she was born on Staten Island, N.Y., Oct. 22, 1939.
Joanne attended Staten Island public schools in New York, graduating from High School at P.S. #44 and for many years, resided in Texas.
In 1982, she came with her family to Boothbay Harbor, where she remained until her passing.
Joanne was known by all for her extraordinary cooking skills and enjoyed handwork of all types, including working with ceramics. She was active for several years with the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witness.
Her biggest passion and love was for her husband, children and grandchildren, always keeping in close contact with each.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jesse DeShazo; children, Jim Scarborough and wife Linda of Westport Island, Jerry Scarborough and wife Paula of Boothbay, Michelle DeShazo and Jessica DeShazo, both of Portland, and Andre DeShazo of New Orleans, La.; sister, Sylvia Rios of Palm Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Dessirae, Dustin, Rhiannin, Luke, Mariah, Raven Scarborough and India Naveja.
