Kate Crane, 92, a resident of Chase Point, formerly of Stonington, Conn., died Oct. 2 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta after a period of failing health.
Kate was born Feb. 26, 1918 in Ann Arbor, Mich., the daughter of Robert and Maria Louisa (Riggs) Crane, and was raised in Ann Arbor, Mich., California, and New York, N.Y. She moved to Stonington, Conn. with her parents when her father retired. In the 1930s she attended art classes at the Art Students League in New York City, as well as studying under her mother, who was an accomplished artist.
Upon the passing of her parents, Kate continued to reside in Stonington, Conn. with her brother, Tom, and her twin brother, Pat. Kate and Pat moved to Chase Point in 2000, to be closer to other family members, where she lived until her health necessitated moving to Cove’s Edge.
She is predeceased by five brothers, Robert Crane, George Crane, Lawrason Crane, Charles “Tom” Crane and Matlack “Pat” Crane.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. Interment will be with her family in Stonington, Conn.
