Kathlyn N. Bryant, 88, of Newcastle, died peacefully on the morning of Dec. 11. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in the class of 1938 and in 1940, she was married to Creston G. Bryant.
In her earlier years, she was employed by the Nash Telephone Co., and Thomas E. Gay Grocery Store; she was the tax collector and town clerk for the town of Newcastle, and was the receptionist and secretary for Dr. George Bostwick. For over 40 years she served as the office manager for the family-owned business, Riverside Boat Company, established by her husband in 1946.
She was very active in the Woman’s Club and as deaconess and trustee of the Second Congregational Church where she was an active member of the church choir. Most recently, she had been a caregiver for her daughter, Louise Stanley. She always enjoyed music, reading and crossword puzzles.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1971.
Survivors include her daughter, Louise Stanley of Newcastle; son, Paul S. Bryant and wife Linda of Newcastle; grandsons, Donald Stanley III of Newcastle, Nathaniel Bryant and wife Promis of Newcastle, and Jonathan Bryant and wife Melissa of Winslow; granddaughter, Patience Bryant and step-grandson, Graham Walton, both of Newcastle; nieces, Karen Bishop and husband Larry of North Anson, and Vicki Knights of Skowhegan; and nephew, Mark Mercier and Karen Reay of Norridgewock.
At her request, there will be no funeral service.
