Kenneth S. Bedell, 52, of Fulton, Ill., died June 3 from injuries suffered from a fall, while visiting friends in Wiscasset.
Born June 11, 1954 in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of William E. Bedell II and Betsy (Swain) Bedell; both predeceased him.
Ken moved to Alna when he was 10, and graduated from Wiscasset High School, class of 1972. He was the Messina Trophy recipient that year as he and the Wiscasset High School basketball team went to the state finals. He also attended Bridgton Academy as a post-graduate.
Ken loved sports and coached baseball and basketball for many years while in Wiscasset.
He was a pipe fitter by trade and worked in Wiscasset, the Midwest and the Southeast. Most recently, he was living in Illinois with his love, Deb Schreiner.
He was married several years ago while living in Alna, and was close to his stepsons: Karl, Christopher and especially, Casey Littrell.
Ken is survived by his brother, Bill Bedell of North Bend, Wash.; nephew, Bill Bedell, Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; and cousin, Andrea Carman of Birmingham, Ala.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., June 23 at the Alna Baptist Church in Alna. A graveside service will then be held at the Alna cemetery followed by a gathering in Wiscasset and a time of fellowship to celebrate Ken’s life.
