Kenneth Weston Prentice Jr., 73, received the gift of eternal life on March 25 after a courageous battle with prostate and bladder cancer. He should always be remembered for his quiet acceptance and dignity in dealing with multiple serious health issues.
Ken was a professional barber for over 30 years. He was a licensed Eucharistic Minister, chalice bearer and licensed Stephen Minister at the Cathedral of All Souls in Asheville. He also served on the vestry, altar and flower guilds at the Church of the Resurrection, Little Switzerland, N.C. for several seasons.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth W. Prentice Sr., and Esther S. Prentice; sister, Betty Jane Chandler Stevens; and brother-in-law, Carroll Leeman.
Ken is survived by his life partner, Frederick Selph of Black Mountain, N.C.; sister, Georgia Bell Leeman of Round Pond; brother-in-law, Roy Stevens of Middleburg, Fla.; daughter, Robin Mae Chesser (David); three granddaughters; two great-grand-children; a niece; two nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., April 8 at the Cathedral of All Souls, Biltmore Village. Interment will be in the Memory Garden at the Church of the Resurrection, Little Switzerland, N.C.
