Lawrence Daniel Wotton, 71, of Waldoboro, died July 31 at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1941 in Waldoboro, a son of the late Harold and Esther Mae (Tolman) Wotton.
Mr. Wotton grew up in Warren and attended schools in Warren and Waldoboro. In 1972 he moved to Waldoboro where he raised his family. For several years he worked at the tannery in Camden and later for Crowe Rope in Warren and Searsport until he retired. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping and attending the Fryeburg Fair.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Nathan C. Wotton and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Wotton is survived by wife of 48 years, Gloria J. Wotton of Waldoboro; daughters, Lauri-Jo Simmons and husband Ralph of Newcastle and Annie Wotton of Washington; son, Jeffrey Wotton of Waldoboro; grandsons, Paul Harris of Washington, Daniel Thomas of Washington, Brandon Simmons of Newcastle, and Cody Wotton of Waldoboro; granddaughter, Danica Simmons and fiancé Kevin Johnston of Spruce Head; great-grandson, Kevin Johnston, II of Spruce Head; brothers, Melvin Wotton of Hampton, Va., and Weston Wotton of Damariscotta; sister, Cynthia Hopper and husband Gerald of Connecticut; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and faithful dog and companion, Jesse.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
