Linda Dale Clark passed away peacefully on March 8 in her comfortable surroundings in Falmouth. The daughter of Neal and Suzanne (Sally) Dale, Linda was born in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 26, 1942.
After a few years, the family moved to Scarsdale, N.Y. where she spent the years of her youth, attending high school and Katharine Gibbs School.
Many of Linda’s friends will remember her spending summers in Christmas Cove, enjoying tennis, fishing and sailing. She seemed to be able to catch more and bigger flounders than anyone else.
With skill and tenacity, Linda had a successful career, working as a typist for 24 years, including 16 years with the CHUBB Insurance Company in White Plains, N.Y. She often expressed compassion for the mishaps people encountered when she was typing up their claims. Her warmth and concern for people was deeply entrenched in her life’s perspective.
Linda’s favorite things were weekend family trips and sharing memories. She was especially fond of animals, including her childhood pet, Pepper – a Boston bulldog, her cheerful parakeets, and later the pet visits in the Legacy facility where she lived. Known for her jolly laugh, Linda was highly respected by her friends and family for her strong character as she took on her life’s challenges. Visits from her nephews, their wives and young boys cheered her greatly.
Linda is survived by her sister, Susan Dale and husband Jon McKane of Newcastle; as well as nephews, Gregg Zimmerman, Geoff Zimmerman, and Sumner McKane and their respective families.
A private family service will be held later this spring.
