Lionel “Lin” Lindsay, of Pemaquid, died July 31 at his winter home in Melbourne, Fla. after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in 1935 and married in 1958, he is survived by his wife of over 50 years Grace Polly; daughter, Grace Stoop-Andrews; son, Michael; and son-in-law, Matthew Andrews. Lin also took great joy in his seven grandchildren and his cat, Oliver.
Lin and his wife Polly discovered when they started dating in 1956 that they had vacationing in Maine as children in common. They continued those vacations throughout their marriage, spending more and more time in Maine until almost 25 years ago they finally realized their dream of owning a home at Pemaquid.
A retired Presbyterian minister, Lin was active in the Bristol Congregational Church and the Little Brown Church at Round Pond.
He will be buried in the Harrington Cemetery with a small graveside farewell following a memorial service in Florida. The memorial service will be held at Trinity Wellsprings Church in Satellite Beach at 11 a.m., Mon., Aug. 11. We would appreciate you signing the guest book at www.Beckman-Williamson.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Heart of Africa, PO Box 5, Friendship, ME 04547 (a memorial fund in his name has been created).
