Lois D. Vannah, 91, of Waldoboro, passed away Dec. 28 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta.
She was born Feb. 24, 1923 in Nobleboro and was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Annie Atkinson Donnell. Lois attended and graduated from Lincoln Academy, class of 1942. She married Stanley A. Vannah on Oct. 24, 1947. Mrs. Vannah and her husband worked in Vannah’s Market for 12 years until his death. She was the treasurer for The Ladies Auxiliary of the Old German Church from 1971 until retiring in 1991. She was a longtime member of the North Nobleboro Baptist Church and a member of the German Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Vannah was predeceased by her parents; husband, Stanley; brother, Chester Donnell; sisters, Thelma D. Moody, Edna D. Spear, Maxine Lane, and Marie D. Ashworth; stepson, Richard Vannah; step-grandsons, Ricky A. Sproul, and Craig R. Sproul; and son-in-law, Glenn Fogleman.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Butler and husband Drew of Waldoboro, and Sally V. Fogleman of Waldoboro; brother, Roger Donnell of Carmel; stepdaughter, Joan Genthner and husband Clyde of Bremen; stepson, Stanley Vannah Jr. and wife Nancy of Nobleboro; sister-in-law, Helen Pietila of Nobleboro; granddaughter, Jency Torres, husband Matthew and their children Alyjah and Mya Torres, all of Boston, Va.; grandsons, Zachery Butler and companion Katie of Union, Dylan Fogleman and companion Cassie of Union, and Jarreth Fogleman of Union; very special great grandson Allen Sproul of San Antonio, Tex.; and stepdaughter-in-law, Barbara Vannah of Waldoboro.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Vannah will be held in the spring at the German Cemetery in Waldoboro.
