Lorene E. Pinkham, 88, of Bath, died March 6 at the Freeport Nursing Home.
She was born in Bowdoinham on Jan. 12, 1925, a daughter of Wendell O. and Viola (Preble) Nelson.
Lorene attended Bath schools and married Charles J. Pinkham in 1945.
She was employed at Congress Sportswear in Bath.
She was a volunteer at the Bath Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and also a long time member of the Bath Methodist Church.
She enjoyed family gatherings and was loved by all. Lorene was known to most as “Nan” for her thoughtful and generous ways. In her spare time she also enjoyed spending time with friends, shopping, sewing, and needlepoint.
Lorene was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Charles J. Pinkham, on May 20, 1977.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria A. Murray and husband Glenn of Norridgewock; grandchildren, Lori Pickering and husband Bill of Wiscasset, Linda Nichols and husband Don of Dresden, and Terry Ashton and fiancée Maria McGuiggan of Boothbay Harbor; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey Pickering of Wiscasset, Zach Pickering of Biddeford, and Jack, Will and Reid Nichols of Portland.
Visiting hours 5-7 p.m., Mon., March 11 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Funeral service 2 p.m., Tues., March 12 at the Bath Methodist Church, 340 Oak Grove Ave., Bath. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath in the spring.
