Louise Mary Cressy Perrotta Derocher Clark passed away June 26. She was born Nov. 7, 1925 in Beverly, Mass., daughter of Joseph and Helen (nee Calhoun) Cressy.
Louise enjoyed an extremely full and exciting life. From a childhood spent in Beverly, Mass. chasing waves on the Dane Street beach and sailing with her brothers and many cousins, to spending idyllic childhood summers in Wolfeboro N.H., she graduated from 12 years of Parochial education in Beverly, Mass., and finally graduated with great pride from the Katherine Gibbs School of Boston. After graduation, she was hired by the Copley Plaza in Boston as secretary to the President. She was always happiest running the show and utilizing her extraordinary organizational talents. In later life she worked running Paul’s Marina in Brunswick. Always being on and around the beautiful waters of Casco Bay fulfilled an important part of her.
Marrying in 1950, Louise had five children and raised them all in Providence, R.I. and Brunswick.
She traveled to Europe frequently and visited the Caribbean and many parts of the United States and had a great passion for Classical music. She was a lifelong season-ticket holder to symphony, whether in Providence, R.I. or in Portland. A true New Englander, she had grit and stamina and a great sense of adventure. Her second husband Paul Derocher of Brunswick was a well loved face on the waters of Casco Bay until he passed away in 1983. Her third husband Capt. William A. Clark of Newcastle, who predeceased her, enriched her life with travel and adventure and together they loved midcoast Maine. She was a member of the Wednesday Club, a women’s debating club, and volunteered at the Roger Williams Zoo. She studied for and obtained a Master Gardener’s Degree of which she was justly very proud. Lastly, she was also a “Friend of Bill’s” for over 30 years.
She was predeceased by daughter, Margaret Perrotta in 1975 and brother, James Cressy in 2003.
Louise is survived by her children, Dr. Louise Perrotta of Brighton, England, Julianne Klein of Boston, Mass., Jane Clayton of Marblehead, Mass. and Jay Perrotta of Freeport who served in the USMC; brothers, Joseph Cressy of Chappaquiddick and Falmouth, Mass. and Norman Cressy of Marblehead, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, stepchildren and cousins.
