Marjorie L. Alley, 78, of Boothbay Harbor, died Nov. 24 at the Androscoggin Hospice Home in Auburn. She was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Bellows Falls, Vt., a daughter of George Latter and Florence Dunton Latter. She grew up in Vermont and later moved to Boothbay Harbor.
She loved doing the laundry and associating with the children who had mental and emotional problems at the Harbor School. She had a special bond with the children. She later worked at the Seagate Motel and lastly at St. Andrews Hospital where she worked for over 18 years. She also was a babysitter for many children in the area. She loved kids.
She loved performing in the minstrel shows. She loved tap dancing and was wonderful at it. She loved cats, going shopping with her family and especially with her sons-in-law, Bill Duncan and Brent Giles. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Williams.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Giles of Boothbay Harbor and Katherine Duncan of Boothbay Harbor; grandchildren, Jennifer Connor of Portland, Brandon Giles of Boothbay Harbor and Adam and Michael Giles, both of Wiscasset; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, Cheryl Rice and Eugena Minde, both of Boothbay Harbor.
Private committal service at Oceanview Cemetery in Boothbay.
