Mary Atwood Hedge (“Polly”), 92, died peacefully on Aug. 28 at Schooner Cove in Damariscotta.
Born in Cambridge, Mass. on Feb. 15, 1918, she graduated from Emma Willard School (1935) and Vassar College (1939). She married Elliott Russell Hedge on Aug. 9, 1941 and they had four daughters.
Since living in Maine, Polly was active in affairs of Miles Memorial Hospital and the Lincoln Home, and was a founder of the Bremen Patriotic Club Scholarship Fund. She also participated on many committees, including the Muscongus Pond Association.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Lydia Russell Hedge of Nova Scotia, Canada, Sarah Hedge Elliston of Cincinnati, Ohio and Priscilla Heath Evilsizer of Pine, Col.; grandson, William Russell Elliston of New York, N.Y.; granddaughter, Linda Tracy of Missoula, Mont.; and great-granddaughter, Larisa Tracy of Missoula, Mont.
Memorial service 3 p.m., Fri., Sept. 3 at Schooner Cove in Damariscotta.
