Mary “Molly” Owen Luke, 100, of Topsham, formerly of Bath, died June 10 at Clover Manor in Auburn.
She was born in New York City on Jan. 11, 1917, a daughter of William Selkirk and Eleanor Doty (Smith) Owen.
She graduated from Montclair High School and attended Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. On June 20, 1936 she married Roger Luke and in 1937 they moved to Bath. Molly was employed as a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher in the Bath schools. They moved to homes in Topsham and Boothbay in 1970.
She was an associate member and past president of the Bath Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in the 1950s and 60s, volunteered at the Maine Maritime Museum and was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church where she served on the altar guild for over 40 years, and a member of several commissions of the Episcopal Dioceses. She was also a member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Boothbay during the summer months. She volunteered for the American Cancer drives and other charitable drives.
Molly enjoyed traveling with Roger around the world and they spent many summers on their boat sailing along the coast of Maine until Roger’s passing. They also belonged to the Brunswick Skating Club and performed in shows together.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roger M. Luke on Nov. 16, 1996; and son, William Luke on Aug. 1, 1997.
She is survived by son, Sandy Luke and wife Audrey of Oxford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., June 17 at Grace Episcopal Church, Washington St., Bath. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. The entrance to the cemetery is off the Old Brunswick Road.
