Mary Etta Wotton, 82, of Friendship, died May 19 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland after a long illness.
Mrs. Wotton was born Aug. 14, 1925 in Friendship, the daughter of Robert and Lavilda Carter Lash, and attended local schools.
She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter, helping her 13 siblings care for her parents as they aged. She loved genealogy and loved exploring local history. She traced her family s ancestors back to the Mayflower. An active member of her church, she was a longtime member of the Friendship Advent Christian Church.
She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Wotton in 2003, and brothers John and Austin Lash.
Survivors include a son Mark Wotton and wife Sandra; daughter, Brenda Winslow and husband Dana; five grandchildren, Laurie Lee, Amy McCollett, Jason Wotton, Ramona Simmons and Mary Anne Wotton; eight great-grandchildren, all of Friendship; brothers, Winfield Lash, Robert Lash, Jr., Harold Lash, Paul Lash, Douglas Lash, Howard Lash, and Philip Lash; and sisters, Eleanor Lash, Carolyn Kaler, Myra Maxcy, and Esther Lane, all of Friendship.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Tues., May 20 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Graveside service 1 p.m., Wed., May 21 at the Village Cemetery, Friendship, with Rev. Allen Chamberlain officiating.
