He was born Aug. 5, 1957, in Rockland, to Ernest and Betty Nute Nichols.
After attending local schools and graduating from Medomak Valley High School, Maurice worked for several local contractors while working in the woods. After working many years locally, he went on to long-haul trucking until his career ended in 2015 after being in a trucking accident.
Maurice was a very talented, hardworking man. He was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Patty Campbell.
He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Desiree Nichols and Maurice Nichols Jr., all of Nobleboro; brother and sister-in-law, David and Rita Nichols of Damariscotta; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Steve Simmons of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Karli and Forest Nichols of Nobleboro, Skyler and Avery Nichols of South Carolina, Kadison Jones of Saco, and Shannon Coccia; and numerous other family members and friends.
Cremation was under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Tex.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Sun., Aug. 7 at the Charles C. Lilly American Legion Post 149, 181 Jefferson St., Waldoboro.
