Mauritz Leo “Danny” Danielson Jr., 69, of Boothbay Harbor, died Sept. 20 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. He was born May 5, 1943 in Boothbay Harbor to Mauritz Leo Danielson Sr. and Dallas Cunningham.
Danny grew up in Boothbay Harbor, then moved to York when he was 16 years old. He served actively in the U.S. Army in his early 20s and was stationed in Germany. He was active in the Coast Guard Reserve in Boothbay Harbor, then later in Portland. Danny enjoyed and was very good at working on boat engines. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” spending time as a York turnpike worker, plumber, and at Bath Iron Works, as a pipe fitter and braiser for 32 years. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In his past time, Danny was a member of Boothbay Fish and Game and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He loved the Red Sox, animals and spending leisure time on his boat.
He is survived by his wife, April Danielson of Boothbay Harbor; half sister, Movita of Bar Harbor; half brother, Wayne of Boothbay Harbor; son, Jason Danielson of York; step children, Susan Marie Sprague of Boothbay and Scott Alan Hardwick of Boothbay Harbor; grandchildren, Dylan Danielson of York, Corey and Brianna Sprague, and Lucas, Duncan, and Olivia Hardwick; and great-grandchildren, Brian and Makayla Sprague.
Graveside service 2 p.m., Mon., Sept. 24 at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Boothbay Harbor.
