Mildred Louise Rood, 86, of Windsor, passed away with loving family by her side on July 27. Mildred was born to John Parlin and Laura (Sprague) Parlin on Jan. 2, 1929 in Jefferson.
Mildred was educated in the Jefferson elementary schools and later went to Warren High School and Cony High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Maine at Augusta.
Mildred worked at a number of different places throughout her life, retiring from Digital Company, Inc. in Augusta. She also cleaned houses in the area.
Mildred was a 70-year member of the Willow Grange #366 in Jefferson, a member of the Lincoln Pomona Grange #19, the Jefferson Historical Society, and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens group in Coopers Mills
Her hobbies included collecting coins for more than thirty years, and she loved and collected porcelain and ceramic dolls.
Mildred is predeceased by husband, Herman Rood; sister, Leola Wiley; brothers, Willard Parlin and Wendall Parlin; and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Andrew Hall.
She is survived by daughters, Sandee Gordon of Chelsea, and Dorothy Parker and husband Orrin of Friendship; sons, Robert Perry of Windsor, and Brant Perry of Randolph; brothers, John Parlin Jr. of Waldoboro, and Edward Parlin and wife Norma of Jefferson; sister, Hester Merrifield and husband Lyman of Jefferson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be from 5-8 p.m., Thurs., July 30 at Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Fri., July 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4 Hassan St., Farmingdale. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Jefferson.
