Millie Baxley, a wonderful, beautiful woman passed away on the afternoon of Dec. 29, 2016 at her home in Anson. She loved completely, and with the fierceness of a mother bear. She married her lifelong friend, sweetheart and arguing partner at the age of just 16. They raised a rowdy family of five kids, along with all the strays (two- and four-legged) that they drug home.
While quiet and unassuming to the outside world – she was anything but. She loved adventures (hot air balloons and white water rafting) as well as camping and taking her grandkids on “field trips.” She was both the quiet voice of reason, and the exasperated voice of “you’ve got to be kidding.” Her biggest regret in life was the wasted time spent in anger longer than a moment.
With arms opened wide, she embraced death as the closing of her earthly chapter and the beginning of her heavenly one. She is, and will be, sorely missed, this woman of grace.
Millie was predeceased by, and is awaited by, her husband, Alfred “Buddy” Baxley; infant Baby Girl Baxley; son, Emery Baxley; parents; three siblings; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family and friends.
She is survived by those awaiting to see her again: children, Jennifer and Tony Partridge, Ronald Baxley and Barb, Sherry and Dan Cochran, Janice and Bob Miller, and Lanie Baxley (honorary); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robbie Miller (Devon, Emma), Rachel Miller (Krystal, Shelby, Sydney, Merissa and Brockton), Carrie and Brandon Rapp (Rylee and Daniel), Leilani Stover (Stevie), Joshua Bishop (Klowie, Geoffrey, Olivia and Kaleb), Bethany Baxley (Taylor, Cody, Shelby and Tristan), Jessica Southwest (Bella, Sequoia, Sam and Jasper), Randi and Israel Harvey (Autumn), Jeannie Baxley and Jason (Jesse), Jeremy and Delfina Baxley (Jasmin, Stacy and Kala), Mariah and Jason Dobbs (Micah, Leah and Ethan), Sarah Baxley and Fred (Brad, Sage and Kyle), Billy and Charlene Benfield (Richie, Andre and David), Bruce Greer (Kylie and Koby), Tasha Baxley, Mike (Sophia, Joe and Ryan), Odessa Partridge and Ben (Bentley and Kaden), Leland and Kelsey Baxley (Natalie), Ozzie Partridge, Christian Miller, Henry Baxley, and Trevor Miller.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Hillside Cemetery in Bremen in the spring.
