Milton Ralph “Milty” Eugley, 88, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully Sept. 2 after a lengthy illness with his loving family by his side.
Milton was born June 29, 1921 in Waldoboro, to Ralph Eugley and Mildred (Davis) Eugley of Waldoboro. He grew up in Gross Neck in Waldoboro, and attended local schools.
Milt entered the military, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was stationed in Maui, Hawaii in 1944, Oahu, Hawaii and Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands) in 1945, and Osaka, Japan in 1946.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Milt lived and worked in Southern Connecticut for two years, working at Pratt & Whitney as a machinist.
Milt then returned to his home town of Waldoboro. Milt was a clam digger for a good part of his life, beginning at the age of 10, and clammed up to his 80th birthday. He was also an avid hunter, loved to garden and harvested all the wood he would need to burn during the winter. He also was known for his beano playing at the local VFW.
Milton was predeceased by his parents; brother, Frederick Eugley; and sisters, Pauline Foster, Arlene McFarland, and Phyllis Foster.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arlene (Boggs) Eugley of Waldoboro; daughters, Sharon Simmons and husband Gil of Waldoboro, and Cathy Mullins and husband Mark of Illinois; brother, Ralph Eugley, Jr.; sisters, Patricia Benner, Estelle Stover, and Georgene Westaway; grandchildren, Jason Simmons and wife Brooke, Ellen Simmons and husband Jeremy Pratt, Robert Arnold, Kristin Arnold, and James Christan; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Simmons, and Walker Simmons.
