Neil T. Greenleaf, 69, of Westport Island, died Oct. 9 at his residence, surrounded by family.
He was born in Damariscotta on Oct. 17, 1944, a son of Robert T. and Carrie E. (Ratcliffe) Greenleaf.
He attended Westport Island schools and Morse High School in Bath. He was employed at Bath Iron Works for 35 years, retiring in 2008. On June 3, 1989 he married Mona Cossar.
He was a member of the Alna Fire Department for 25 years and Sons of American Legion, Post 54 in Wiscasset.
He enjoyed dancing, stock cars, bowling, hunting and fishing. He could weld anything BIW put in front of him and was a great mechanic.
Neil was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Marcela Furbish and Eleanor Belanger; brother, Gene Greenleaf; and granddaughter, Tasha Waltz.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Greenleaf of Westport Island; daughters, Inez Lawrence and husband Jim of Wiscasset, and Neilly Hendrickson and husband Alan of Wiscasset, both from a previous marriage, and Kelley Smith and husband Shawn of Waldoboro; son, Aaron Ashton of Wiscasset, also from a previous marriage; brother, Robert T. Greenleaf III of Freeport; sister, Joyce A. Cressey of Buckfield; grandchildren, Jill Ridley, Tom Lawrence, Chris Greenleaf-Brawn, Alex Hendrickson, Andrew Hendrickson, Mike Hendrickson, Matthew Ashton, Maddison Ashton, and Joey Waltz; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Isabella Lawrence, and Gavin Ridley.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 18 at Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene, Gardiner Rd., Wiscasset. A potluck reception will follow downstairs at the church, please bring a dish to share.
