Patricia P. Carlson passed away peacefully on May 27 in California after a very long, slow decline.
Born in 1923 to Edwin Thomas and Marie Louisa Proctor, she spent much of her life in Nashville, Tenn. but chose to be on Bremen Long Island as much as possible in her later life; she was a resident of Schooner Cove from 2001-2009.
Patsy graduated from Wellesley College and later worked on a Ph.D. in child psychology at Vanderbilt University.
She was predeceased by her first husband Dan C. Roehm and her second husband Reynold E. Carlson, with whom she served her country as Ambassador to Colombia and first came to Maine.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Louise Roehm and son-in-law William J. Erkelens Sr. of American Canyon, Cal.; the grandson of her heart, Jeffrey Erkelens; beloved nieces, Anne Walker Schiller, Sharon Mintzer, and Susan Evans; as well as other family members.
A service will occur in Novato, Cal. at 11 a.m., Tues., June 9 at Keaton’s Memorial Chapel. A celebration of her life will occur on Sat., Sept. 19 in Bremen, followed by the disposal of her cremains.
No flowers please; donations may be directed to the beneficiary of your choice in accord with her wide interests (suggestions include The Humane Society, a school or educational project, a botanical garden, or a historical society), and/or have a hearty meal and drink a toast to her.
