Phillip A. Jura, 29, of Waldoboro, died unexpectedly Dec. 17 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield.
Born in Rockport, Feb. 1, 1980, he lived in Midcoast Maine his entire life. Phillip was a 1998 graduate of Medomak Valley High School. For over 10 years, he was employed as a corrections officer at Maine State Prison. Friends and co-workers affectionately referred to him as ‘Peanut.’
Phillip enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. His first deer was a ‘Monster Buck’ at age 13, and his second was this past hunting season. He also enjoyed bowling, watching the Patriots and trail-riding his ATV with family and friends. He was always willing to help someone out when they needed a hand. He loved life and joked around with anyone he met. He truly was one of those people known as ‘larger than life.’
He is survived by his two beautiful daughters, Arianna Joy Jura of Rockport and Makennah Brianne Jura of Waldoboro; loving companion, Nastassja Nichols of Waldoboro; mother, Linda J. Jura and companion Wayne Jackson of Union; father, Erik E. Jura and wife Michelle of Cushing; sister, Jennifer J. Jura and fiancé Shawn Kaler of Friendship; brother, Andrew D. Jura of Union; step-brothers, Shane C. Lavoie of Cushing, and Aaron K. Lavoie and companion Barbie Louder, both of Waldoboro; grandparents, Arthur and Joyce Jura of Union, Doris and Nathan Beal of Union, and Richard and Beverly Paine of Augusta; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
Family and friends were invited to visit Dec. 22 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland, where a celebration of his life followed.
