Phyllis F. Lilly, 87, of Jefferson, passed away July 30 following a brief illness with her family at her side. She was born in Jefferson on Sept. 14, 1921, a daughter of Charles, Sr. and Hattie Weaver Feyler.
Phyllis had been employed as a telephone operator in Whitefield, at the Button Factory in Waldoboro and for 32 years for Sylvania – GTE in Waldoboro. She was a member for more than 70 years of the Jefferson Grange, a member and Deacon of the United Baptist Church in South Jefferson. Phyllis enjoyed gardening and canning and giving the excess to neighbors. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans and donating them to area nursing homes, feeding and watching the wild birds, going shopping with her sister and taking long rides especially to Greenville and Moosehead areas.
She was predeceased by her husband George “Hap” Lilly who died 1980, and brother, Junior Feyler.
Phyllis is survived by her special nephew whom she cared a lot of, Darrell Spears and wife DeeDee of Jefferson; sister, Marie Boynton of Jefferson; brother, Clinton Feyler and wife Jean of Mt. Vernon; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours Aug. 1 at Staples Funeral Home, Gardiner. Funeral services Aug. 2 at the United Baptist Church in South Jefferson; burial followed in the family lot in Trask Lawn Cemetery, South Jefferson.
