Richard (Dick) Valentine passed away on March 24 in Hollywood, Cal. Dick was born with his twin brother, Bob, (now deceased) on July 7, 1931. His mother and father were Dorothy and Rodger Valentine. His sister was Ann now also deceased, who lived in Camden.
Dick attended Lincoln Academy and was named Sir Lincoln as the most popular student in the class of 1949. His personality, athleticism, good looks and academic credentials were outstanding. He was admired by all except for his many girl friends who adored him.
Dick attended law school at Suffolk University in Boston before yielding to the call of the acting profession in Hollywood. He subsequently attended the Yale Drama School. He was influenced in this professional pursuit by his outstanding acting performances in the senior class play and in appearing in various summer theaters in Maine.
Commencing as a life guard at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood, Dick became involved in the movie industry participating in the planning and execution of various motion picture events and TV commercials. He was widely respected and honored in the Hollywood entertainment industry.
Dick was married 45 years to the true love of his life, Kelley Valentine, who was a top casting director in Hollywood. Their home sits above Sunset Boulevard close to the Hollywood Bowl and became a center for many entertainment events. Upon his retirement Dick continued teaching a widely proclaimed comedy acting class up to the time of his passing.
Recalling the great days of his youth and time at Lincoln Academy, Dick has left a bequest of certain property in Los Angeles to the Academy. Dick was a wonderful gentleman and an outstanding citizen of the professional acting community that sustains the industry in Hollywood. He will be missed.
