Robert “Bob” F. Larsen, 78, of West Boothbay Harbor, passed away peacefully at Togus VA Hospice Center in Augusta on May 31.
He was born on June 13, 1930, the son of Gabriel and Alma Hanna Larsen in Fairbury, Ill. He lived in Illinois, Texas, and Ohio before moving to New Jersey in 1947. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and was discharged in 1952. He attended Rutgers University and went to work in the furniture business where he became a furniture buyer for Koos Brothers (Huffman Koos), staying there until his retirement in 1995. He moved to the Boothbay region in 1996, from Brielle, N.J.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active in the local American Legion. Before retiring to West Boothbay Harbor he was active in the Lions Club, serving a term as president. He was also active in the Episcopal Church, serving many roles, including vestryman.
He was predeceased by his sister Louise Larsen Anderson of New Providence, N.J. in 2003.
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy; daughter, Karen of Winfield, Ill.; and son, David of Jupiter, Fla.
Gathering in Bob’s memory 2 p.m., Sat., June 27 at the American Legion Hall on Industrial Way in Boothbay. His friends are invited to be a part of this gathering.
