Robert “Bobby” Samuel Morton III, passed away after a brief illness, on July 25, 2014 at Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born the son of Ernest and Sophia Morton, on May 17, 1943, in Boothbay Harbor.
Robert was a carpenter and painter most of life. When he retired he joined his son as a stern man on his boat. He loved being on the lobster boat with his son and the time they shared together. When he relaxed, he enjoyed fishing, camping and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast.
He was a member of the Arcana Lodge #102, in Thomaston. His proudest accomplishment was as Grand Chancellor of the State of Maine, in the Knights of Pythias, from 2011 through 2012. He shared this honor with his wife Anna and they spent that year traveling to many places, raising money for The Ronald McDonald Houses in Portland and Bangor. Robert was loved by his family and was a good friend to many.
Robert leaves his wife of 47 years, Anna (Brewer) Morton; son, Robert Wallace Morton Sr., and wife Kim of East Boothbay; grandsons, Robert Morton Jr. and wife Amy of Orrington, and Connor Morton of Boothbay; sisters, Dottie Kirouac of Connecticut, Ernestine Townsend of Hollis, and Mary Smale, of Friendship; brothers, Ernest Morton of East Boothbay, and Ricky Morton of Bath; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and very special person in his life, Wallace “Herk” Brewer.
There will be a time of gathering and remembrance, with a special ceremony by the Knight of Pythias, from 6-8 p.m., Fri., Aug. 1 at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay.
