Robert Wilson, 71, of Whitefield, died at his home surrounded by his family on April 5. He was born in Jefferson on Oct. 6, 1946.
He was a woodman, having worked hard all his life. He started his working career at Lipman Poultry in Augusta, and digging marine worms.
Robert loved working in the woods, enjoyed Indian artifacts and anything to do with the ocean.
He was predeceased by wife, Madelyn; brothers, Charlie Wilson, Donald Peaslee, and Albert Peaslee; and sisters, Pauline, Tina, and Patsy.
He is survived by companion, Sylvia Walls; daughter, Robin Wilson-Sukeforth of Richmond; sons, Robert Wilson Jr. of Chelsea, Wyatt Wilson of Augusta, and Waymond Smith of Whitefield; sisters, Serena Delano of Texas, and Alta Miller of Dixfield; brothers, Mike Wilson of Augusta, Harold Peaslee Jr. of Bowdoinham, Edward Peaslee of Whitefield, Paul Peaslee of Pittston, Benny Peaslee of Dixfield, Ricky Peaslee of Pittston, and Dale Peaslee of Whitefield; grandson, Ross to whom he was very close; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Steve Lord.
Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 p.m., Mon., April 9 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tues., April 10. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Jefferson.
