Rosalie Ann Jewett French, 66, of Dresden, died at MaineGeneral Rehab & Nursing at Graybirch in Augusta, on Dec. 23, 2013 after a long illness.
Rosalie was born on March 13, 1947 at Gardiner General Hospital in Gardiner, the daughter of Alvin N. and Leona E. (Blinn) Jewett. She attended Dresden schools and graduated from Bridge Academy on June 7, 1961.
She was a former member of the first Congregational Church of Pittston, worked as a cook at Williams Nursing Home (now Glenridge Nursing Home) in Augusta and was attending school to become a Licensed Dietetican. She also worked at Ma’s Place (The Snack Bar) that was owned and operated by her mother in Dresden, Health Tex in Gardiner and the Dresden Texaco.
Rosalie always considered Dresden as her home no matter where she resided. She was active in the Dresden Fire Department, attended town meetings, was a member of the school board and chaperoned many class trips.
She always made time for family and friends. She enjoyed doing crafts, hunting and 4-wheeling. She loved animals, especially horses and rode her horses in many shows and parades.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents; husband of 27 years, Alden M. French; and brothers, Owen (Bobby) and Joseph Delano.
Rosalie is survived by son, Ernest French; daughters, Sheri French and husband Bradley Stuart, and Cindy Cobb, all of Dresden; brothers Charles N. and wife Merle Jewett of Alna, and Douglas and wife Helen Delano of Westport Island; grandchildren, Dustin, Roman, Cody and Jacob; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gravesite service will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., May 17 at the Whitefield Cemetery, Wiscasset Road, Rt. 218, Whitefield.
Donations may be in the memory of Rosalie to one’s own choice.
