Ruby Hanley passed away Dec. 22.
Ruby Alice Jewell was born in Berlin, N.H. on Dec. 14, 1923 and lived a number of years in Bethel. She graduated from Gould Academy and attended Central Maine General Nursing Home in Lewiston where she received her nursing degree.
She practiced home health in Florida early in her career and later she was a nurse at Miles Memorial Hospital and did many years of private duty nursing in the community.
She met Bob Hanley while attending a dance in Bristol Mills when she was visiting the local parson’s daughter. They married in 1947 and had three children.
Ruby lived a life of providing quiet support for her husband, children, grandchildren, and others in her family and community. She left this earth quietly surrounded by many members of her loved family. In keeping with her wishes, a small graveside service will be held Memorial Day weekend.
She was predeceased by her son, Scott; and husband, Bob.
She is survived by her daughter, Jewel Hanley; son, Mark Hanley; granddaughters, Alison Lee, and Megan Reinhardt; grandson, Stewart Hanley; great-grandchildren, Anna Drake, Corbin Drake, Jack Lee, and Lauren Lee.
