Shirley Ann Blake, 75, of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully on Nov. 15 at LincolnHealth-Miles Campus in Damariscotta.
Shirley grew up in West Waldoboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1960. As a young adult, she enjoyed dancing tremendously. In high school she was voted “Best Dancer” and met her husband of 54 years, James Blake at a dance at Beaver Lodge. She was a 48-year member with Lake View Chapter #179 Order of the Eastern Star and held a life membership there. She also served as secretary of the Keystone Club, Wiwurna Chapter, and had previously held the position of Worthy Matron for both.
Shirley had many passions. She was an avid reader, and treasured the time she spent with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Bahamas, and most recently to Las Vegas, where she proudly visited 27 casinos in seven days. She cherished her time on the water, whether boating or at the family cottage, and enjoyed playing card games on a regular basis.
Shirley is survived by her husband James Blake of Nobleboro; mother, Marion Griffin of Waldoboro; sons, Michael Blake of Damariscotta, and Scott Blake and partner Wayne Sprague of Windham; grandchildren, Cameron Blake and Brandon Blake of Bristol; and numerous loving extended family and friends.
