Shirley May Brown, 84, a resident of the Bay View Manor Boarding Home in Searsport and longtime resident of Waldoboro, passed away Aug. 6 at the Waldoboro County General Hospital in Belfast after a period of failing health.
Shirley was born Jan. 6, 1927 in Waldoboro, the daughter of Glenwood and Alice Conway Creamer, and is a graduate of Waldoboro High School.
Entering the workforce, she was employed by Moody’s Diner before moving to Quincy, Mass., where she worked for Sears & Roebuck in Quincy for a total of 17 years, and 10 years at Stop N Shop, also in Quincy.
In 1965 she married James Brown, and together they made their home in Quincy, returning to Waldoboro briefly before resuming her residency in Quincy.
In the early 1990s she moved back to Waldoboro, enjoying her retirement by playing Bingo and collecting old glass bottles and old coins.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Brown, who died in 1998, and two half-brothers, Robert Creamer and James Creamer.
Survivors include her good friends, Sandra and Randy Emerson of Waldoboro.
Graveside service 1 p.m., Thurs., Aug. 18 at the Shuman Cemetery on Washington Road in Waldoboro, with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
