Susan June “Susie” Owen Harrington, 50, of Edgecomb and Boothbay, passed away peacefully Aug. 29 at Central Maine Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 29, 1964 in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Philip R. Owen Sr. and Judith Giles Owen.
Susie grew up in Boothbay and attended the local schools. During and after school, Susie joined the workforce where she held various positions throughout the community. She worked as a housekeeper, waitress, cook, sternwoman and also dug clams among other various adventures. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, making jewelry, sewing, and the thrill of making a new treasure out of something old and discarded. In everything she did, at work or at play, she worked hard and strived for perfection. She was loyal and true to her family and friends. Susie was a light in the life of all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her father Philip R. “Dicky” Owen Sr.; and many close cousins and friends.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Owen of Boothbay; companion, Don McKay of Edgecomb; daughter, Crystal Harrington of Boothbay; sons, Philip “Little Guy” Harrington III and wife Karen of Wiscasset, and Michael Harrington of Wiscasset; step-son, Donnie “Bear” McKay and wife Kasha of Jefferson; granddaughters, Cheyenne Lee and Jaylnn Grace Harrington of Wiscasset; brothers, Philip R. “Seaphas” Owen Jr. of Boothbay, and Jesse Owen and companion Kelley Dennison of Etna; nephews, Brandon “Dooney” Copeland, Jeremy and Taylor Owen, all of Boothbay Harbor, Alex and Philip Owen III of Edgecomb, and Aron Owen; niece, Hailey Owen of Etna; former husband, Philip Harrington II and wife Connie of Wiscasset; grandparents to her children, Philip Harrington Sr. and wife Dot of Woolwich; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sat., Sept. 6. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Sun., Sept. 7, both at Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay, with Pastor Doug Wood officiating.
