Thelma Anna Hallowell, formally of Washington, passed away peacefully on May 28 at Glenridge Rehabilitation Center in Augusta.
She was born in Somerville, Mass. on Jan. 30, 1915, the daughter of the late Alexander and Annie (Aiken) Darrock.
She attended Peabody Grammar School in Cambridge, Mass. and graduated from Cambridge Latin High School, class of 1931. Thelma also studied bookkeeping for one year at Fisher College.
On Sept. 15, 1934, she married Chauncey W. Hallowell and together they shared many wonderful years, until his death on March 13, 1984.
Over the years, Thelma was employed by the Paragon Button Factory in Waldoboro, delivered mail twice a day from Coopers Mills to Washington, and also was a CNA for the Washington Manor Nursing Home in Washington.
Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Janice M. Crosby, who passed away on April 3 of this year.
Thelma will be sadly missed by her daughter, Norma E. Miller and husband John of Windsor; grandchildren, Jay Crosby of Belfast, Kelley Colby and husband Nat of Windsor, Trevor Crosby of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jared Miller and wife Bethany of Winthrop; great-grandchildren, Shane and Kelsey Colby of Windsor, and Nathan and Lauren Miller of Winthrop; and son-in-law, Stanley Crosby of Jefferson.
Time of Visitation 10-11 a.m., Mon., June 4 with a remembrance service to follow at 11 a.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Windsor.
