Thomas C. Bragg, 89, of Augusta and formerly of Waldoboro, passed away one day before his 90th birthday on June 21 at the MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta with his family at his side.
Thomas was born June 22, 1922 in Webster, the son of Calvin L. and Ella Stevenson Bragg, and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School.
He spent many years working with his father, Calvin, first on the family farm raising many kinds of vegetables, which they traded for used cars and parts, and eventually opening Calvin L. Bragg Auto Parts, starting in Waldoboro before moving the business to Augusta.
Thomas was a former member of the Waldoboro United Methodist Church and since moving to Augusta the Green Street United Methodist Church, was active in his community, serving as a town selectman in Waldoboro, member of Progressive Grange, operating its Bingo Games for many years, King Solomon’s #61 AF & AM, and the Waldoboro Lions Club.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by brothers, Calvin L. (Roy) Bragg Jr. and Roland Bragg.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Beatrice Bagley Bragg of Augusta; daughter, Carol Bragg Skoglund and companion John Macom of Brooksville; granddaughters, Elizabeth Gray and husband Robert Gray of St. Paul, Minn. and Kathryn Skoglund of Gulfport, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Gray, Isaac Gray, Rebecca Gray, Rachel Gray, Mary Gray and Mykah Gray, all of St. Paul, Minn.; brother, Norman Bragg of Jefferson; sister, Almeda Collins of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Thomas’ life 3 p.m., Mon., June 25 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, with Rev. Thomas Blackstone officiating. Interment will follow in the Shuman Cemetery, Waldoboro.
