Vesta (Turnbull) Bogle Robinson, 93, of Yarmouth Port, Mass., passed away on March 29. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Bogle and the late Walter G. Robinson.
She was born in Scotland on April 26, 1923 to James D. and Emily I. (Grant) Turnbull. Her family emigrated to the U.S. when Vesta was five years old ultimately settling in Epping, N.H. where she grew up.
After her marriage to Joe, they moved to Waltham, Mass., raised their family, and later spent wonderful summers in Pemaquid. Widowed many years, Vesta married Walter Robinson after meeting him through mutual interest in art. They lived in Damariscotta. After Walter’s death 18 years later Vesta moved to Cape Cod to be near her family, first in Southport, Mass. and then in Heatherwood, Mass.. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She attended Carney Hospital Nursing School as well as the DeCordova Art Museum School in Lincoln, Mass. Vesta worked as an executive secretary for Brandeis University and Raytheon. Vesta became an accomplished contemporary colorist painter. She studied at the Round Top Center for the Arts in Damariscotta, the Lexington, Arts & Crafts Society, as well as workshops in Ogunquit and New Harbor, and Cambridge, Mass., and her favorite subjects were coastal Maine and New England landscapes. Vesta’s work has been exhibited at Boston area art shows, hospitals and libraries.
She was a member of the Round Top Center for the Arts in Damariscotta, the Chelmsford Art Society, the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, and the Pemaquid Group of Artists in Pemaquid Point, and the Cape Cod Art Association.
Vesta leaves sons, John J. Bogle and wife Judy of Tigard, Ore., and James F. Bogle and wife Linda of West Yarmouth, Mass.; daughter, Margaret Whalen and husband Richard of Estero, Fla.; grandchildren, Elizabeth McKinney of Portland, Ore., Jeremy Bogle of Yarmouth, Mass., Adrian Bogle of Yarmouth, Mass., Gregory Bogle and wife Kellyn of Yarmouth, Mass., and Alyssa LaCroix of Harwich, Mass.; as well as great-grandchildren, Eva Bogle and Arlo Bogle.
In accordance with Vesta’s wishes there will be no services.
