Viola Stinson, 91, of Brunswick, had spent her last remaining days at home surrounded by loved ones when she passed on Oct. 22. The daughter of Emery and Alice Rideout, she was born in East Brunswick on May 18, 1920 and attended the Bath school system.
She had four brothers, Arthur, Henry, Emery Jr. and Carlton Rideout, the last remaining sibling; and two sisters, Ada Henderson and Beatrice Blethen. She married Alton D. Stinson on Oct. 11, 1939, the one and only love of her life whom she lost on March 6, 1984. They had three children together, John E. Stinson, Alton D. Stinson Jr., and Doris Stinson; then filled the house with six grandchildren, David, Sherri, Daniel, Travis, Amanda and Jessica, and many great-grandchildren, Samantha, Lakotah, John “J.D.”, Gabriel, Layla, Louchon and a baby on the way. She also had nieces and nephews in Wiscasset.
Graveside service 1 p.m., Sun., Oct. 30 at Riverside Cemetery, Day Ferry Road, Woolwich. Celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. at American Legion “Smith Tobey” on Congress Street in Bath.
