Webster B. “Wes” Ulin, 75, of Newark, Del. and summer resident of Round Pond, died on Sept. 29 at his home.
Born in Wilmington, Del. on April 23, 1933, Mr. Ulin was a son of the late Alexander Ulin and Elizabeth Beattie Ulin. He was a graduate of Tower Hill School and attended the University of Delaware. He later proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy stationed in Panama during the Korean War. In civilian life, he made his career with the General Motors Corporation in Wilmington, retiring from the materials section after 30 years of service.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Ulin delighted in boating on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. With his wife, he greatly enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the “Two X Four” Square Dance Club. Active in his community, Mr. Ulin was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men (Wawa Group). An avid traveler as well, Mr. Ulin enjoyed traveling the country with his wife in their RV and also spending winters in Florida following his retirement. He particularly looked forward to summers in Round Pond, where he and his family vacationed every summer except for the years he was in military service. A devoted family man above all else, he enjoyed family celebrations and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Ulin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret “Peg” Wermuth Ulin; three sons, Sam Ulin and wife Lida, Bob Ulin and Alex Ulin; five stepchildren, Kathleen Hubbard and husband Calvin, Peggy Lashbrook, Thomas Miller and wife Mary Ann, Julie Adams and husband Kenny, and Mark Miller and wife Julie; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Fri., Oct. 3 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, Del. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m., Sat., Oct. 4 at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, Del. Interment will be held privately.
