Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Aug. 19, Sgt. Jason Nein took a report of a theft of a flower box with flowers from the Wilson Memorial Chapel in East Boothbay. This is the second such occurrence at the chapel with the previous one reported Aug. 10. Further investigation will follow if leads develop.
Aug. 20, Jeremy J. Safford, 33, of Bath, was issued a summons for operating after habitual offender revocation, on Route 1, Nobleboro, by Detective Jared Mitkus.
Aug. 16, Richard E. Blanc, 39, of Bristol, was arrested on a Lincoln County warrant for failure to appear and summonsed for displaying fictitious vehicle certificate and violating condition of release, on Fish Point Road, Bristol, by Detective Scott Hayden.
Aug. 17, Curtis H. Moody II, 47, of Whitefield, was arrested for domestic violence criminal mischief and domestic violence terrorizing – priors, on Acorn Lane, Whitefield, by Detective Mitkus, who was assisted by Detective Sgt. Ronald Rollins and Sgt. Brendan Kane.
Aug. 18, Jason W. Nash, 30, of Bremen, was arrested for violating condition of release, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drug, and violating condition of release, on Waldoboro Road, Bremen, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Aug. 20, Devon Gross, 19, of Warren, was arrested on a Wiscasset District Court warrant for failure to appear on a Maine Marine Patrol charge, on Waldoboro Road, Bremen, by Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore.
Note: On Aug. 9, Justin Peabody, 29, of Waldoboro, was arrested for violating a protection order. These charges were later dismissed due to a data-entry error by the court.
On Aug. 16, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Evan W. Jones, 22, of Jefferson. Jones was operating his 2005 GMC 2500 westbound when, due to heavy rain, he lost control of his vehicle and hydroplaned, causing his vehicle to go into a ditch. His vehicle then came to rest against a utility pole. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 17, an accident occurred on Common Drive in Boothbay involving Harley M. Campbell, 22, of Brunswick. Campbell was operating her 2008 Toyota Corolla southbound when an unknown vehicle exited Corey Lane and was struck in the rear. The unknown vehicle, described as a silver minivan, continued traveling northbound on Route 27. Campbell then drove southbound to Common Drive and attempted to turn around, however, misjudged the turn and struck a cement barrier. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 17, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Linda M. Bulmer, 65, of Bristol, and Laurie Ettus, 62, of Framingham, Mass. Ettus had stopped her 2007 Toyota Camry in the southbound travel lane in traffic to turn left onto Route 32. Bulmer was operating her 2012 Ford Fusion southbound behind Ettus’ vehicle when she failed to see Ettus stop and struck her vehicle in the rear. Sgt. Nein was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 17, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Aimee B. Dempsey, 81, of Plymouth, Mass., and Robert S. Latter, 46, of Boothbay Harbor. Latter was operating his 2012 Kenworth refuse disposal truck southbound on Route 27. Dempsey was stopped in a driveway, failed to see Latter approaching, and entered her 2014 Honda Accord into the southbound travel lane, into the path of Latter’s vehicle. Latter applied the brakes, however, he struck Dempsey’s vehicle in the southbound lane and pushed her vehicle a short distance before both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane. Sgt. Nein was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 18, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Henry B. Fontaine, 65, of South Portland; Jennifer Long, 30, of Boothbay; and Kevin P. Morgan, 21, of Blandon, Penn. Fontaine was stopped in southbound traffic in his 2012 Ford Mustang. Long was stopped behind Fontaine in her 2007 Nissan Altima. Morgan was operating his 2015 Subaru southbound when he looked away for a moment and failed to see Long stopped. As a result, Morgan struck Long’s vehicle, causing Long’s vehicle to strike Fontaine’s vehicle. Sgt. Kane was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 18, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Edgecomb involving Gabriel Purin, 18, of Boothbay. Purin was operating his 2011 Ford Ranger southbound when he traveled onto the soft shoulder on the right side of the roadway. Purin then overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle, leaving the left side of the roadway and striking numerous trees. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 22, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Charles S. Bernstein, 61, of Portland, and Julian K. Couture, 28, of Boston. Bernstein had stopped his 2008 Honda Accord in traffic northbound on the Wiscasset Road. Couture was traveling behind Bernstein in his 1997 Jeep Wrangler and was driving too fast for the wet road conditions (heavy rain). As result, Couture could not stop in time and struck Bernstein’s vehicle from behind. Maj. Ken Mason was the investigating officer.
