Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 373 calls for the week of Sept. 12-19. Year to date, the sheriff’s office has responded to 13,363 calls.
Sept. 16, Averi Klingensmith, 20, of Sanford, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy John Braley.
Sept. 16, Zachary S. Levasseur, 21, of Milford, was issued a summons for operating after suspension, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Braley.
Sept. 12, Peter E. Townsend, 33, of Boothbay Harbor, was arrested on a probation violation, on Day Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.
Sept. 13, Joshua D. Benner, 28, of Newcastle, was arrested for violating condition of release and a probation violation, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Detective Jared Mitkus.
On Sept. 12, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Erich M. Scheffler, 28, of Jefferson. Scheffler was operating his 2016 Subaru Forester northbound when he entered the northbound shoulder, overcorrected, and crossed the centerline. His vehicle continued into the southbound shoulder, overcorrected again, and began to skid sideways in the southbound lane, where it rolled over and continued back into the northbound lane. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 14, an accident occurred on Jones Woods Road in Newcastle involving Michael A. Nelson, 54, of Nobleboro. Nelson was operating his 2005 Buick Lacrosse northbound when a deer ran into the roadway and was struck. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 14, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Nobleboro involving James Brawn, 30, of Brunswick; Mark A. Parker, 47, of Camden; and Holly J. Billings, 40, of Nobleboro. Parker was operating his 2004 BMW motorcycle northbound and Brawn was operating his 2008 GMC 1500 southbound. An unknown vehicle was stopped on Route 1, facing north, attempting to make a left turn onto Back Meadow Road extension. Parker used the right lane to go around the vehicle that was making a left turn. Brawn, who was traveling southbound, attempted to make a left turn onto Back Meadow Road. He stated he did not see Parker’s vehicle and turned in front of the stopped vehicle. As a result, Parker struck the center passenger side of Brawn’s vehicle, causing Parker to be ejected from his motorcycle. Billings was stopping at the stop sign on Back Meadow Road and her 2017 Toyota Rav4 was struck by a tire/rim that broke off of Brawn’s vehicle. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.
On Sept 15, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Henry C. Cain, 46, of Windham. Cain was operating his 2005 Sterling tractor-trailer southbound on Route 27 when he came around a corner near Edgecomb Pottery. Cain noted a UPS truck attempting to turn left into a driveway ahead and braked to slow, however, the vehicle’s brakes failed to slow his vehicle. Cain elected to put the vehicle into the ditch, causing it to roll onto its side. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 16, an accident occurred on Hardwick Road in Boothbay involving Brandon L. Andrews, 17, of Boothbay. Andrews was operating his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle westbound when he reported he encountered another vehicle on his side of the road and applied the brakes, causing his motorcycle to skid. As a result, his motorcycle landed on its left side and skidded off the road and onto the shoulder. Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 16, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Laurel E. Ryder, 59, of Waldoboro. Ryder was operating her 2011 Ford Fiesta eastbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and struck her vehicle. The deer hit the front passenger headlight area and spun around, hitting the front fender and passenger’s door, before running off into the woods. Reserve Deputy Neil Genthner was the investigating officer.
