From the principal
By Lynsey Johnston
We have a new student/family handbook. A copy is being sent home with all students and we would appreciate if families would return the signature page at the back of the handbook to the school acknowledging that one has received and read it. The handbook is always available on the website under the “Students/Parents” tab or by request from the office if one would like a paper copy.
Important dates
Wednesday, Sept. 20: Picture day
Friday, Oct. 6: No school — teacher workshop day
Monday, Oct. 9: No school — Columbus Day

Music notes
Music classes are off to a great start this year. K-4 classes have been singing and playing music games to kick off the school year. The fourth-graders are excited to start learning the recorders. The middle school students chose music classes this year: band, chorus, and music technology. These class choices give the students ownership of their music learning. We have so many students excited about making music and ready to learn more!
Middle school students wishing to learn guitar or violin or who want extra help in music can come in during lunch/recess on Thursdays. Students wishing to be in the handbells club can come in during lunch/recess on Thursdays.
For more information about the music program, email mwinchenbach@aos93.org or call the school at 549-7491.
