Celebrate Olde Bristol Days by running in the 13th Annual Alvin Sproul Samoset 10K road race, Sun., Aug. 14, at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers are encouraged to attend this scenic run that starts near the Bristol Consolidated School in Pemaquid and runs along Rt. 32 with views of Muscongus Bay and the Rachel Carson Preserve.
Named in honor of the long time race director Alvin Sproul, all proceeds of this special feature of Olde Bristol Days benefit the Bristol Fire and Rescue Dept.
The 10K will start promptly at 8 a.m. (walkers start at 7:30 a.m.) to avoid the heat of the August summer with the one-mile fun run (for ages 14 and younger) beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Awards go to top finishers in a wide range of age categories. Check in and race registration is at the Bristol Consolidated School on Rt. 130 in Pemaquid beginning at 7 a.m.
Refreshments will be provided by the Bristol Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. Three water stations are planned as well.
