On March 31 and April 1, the Central Lincoln County YMCA gymnastics team will travel to compete at the Maine State YMCA Gymnastics meet.
Under the direction of coach Janice Cormier-Hay and Betsy Lee, the girls will compete at the Lewiston Armory against the eight other YMCA gymnastics teams: Bath, Ellsworth, Bangor, Lewiston/Auburn, Waterville, Oxford Hills, Rumford and Old Town.
Of the girls’ upcoming performance, Coach Janice Cormier-Hay said, “I am so proud of how far the girls have come this season. The team is well prepared and had an excellent competition season.”
At each compulsory level (1-6 and the optional level, Advanced Pre-Op) the girls will compete in all four events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
“At this point of the season they are polishing their routines and are excited for a great weekend of gymnastics,” Cormier-Hay said.
Awards will be given on an individual level for each event and individual all-around as well as team awards for each competitive skill level. All the best to the girls and coaches.
