Lincoln Academy baseball handed Rockland an 8-4 loss in their KVAC finale June 2 in make-up action in Rockland. The win snapped a three game losing streak and improved their record to 11-5. The Eagles are seeded third in West Class B and will host Falmouth on Thurs., June 10.
Dalton Leeman collected the win in six innings of work (5K,4R,7H,3B) and Brandon Reilly the save (1I,1K). Reilly back on the mound for the Eagles is a positive sign going into the playoffs, as he was questionable due to an injury. Dylan Meklin took the loss for the Tigers.
Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning when Stephen Quinlan walked, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a Merritt Wotton single. Rockland knotted the score in the bottom of the inning on a solo blast from Luke Morrill.
Lincoln rallied for five runs in the 3rd to put the game away. Ben McLain was hit by a pitch, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a Reilly single. Wotton walked. Lamb hit a single scoring Reilly. Wotton scored on a passed ball. Kyle Scherer beat out a bunt for a single, and Everett Martin and Mardy Alden hit an RBI single each.
Rockland added a run in the 3rd and two in the 4th on a two run homerun to Steve Widdecombe to pull within two. Lincoln added two runs in the 6th. McLain walked, stole to third, Reilly reached on an infield single and both scored on a Jeff Lamb single.
Hitting for Lincoln were Lamb with a double and 2 singles, Alden a double and single, Reilly 2 singles, and Wotton, Scherer and Martin a single each. Hitting for Rockland were Nick Beal with 2 singles, Morrill and Widdecombe a homerun each, Gentry Burch a double and Joe Nelson a single.
