Lincoln Academy’s golf team won the KVAC Class B golf championship on Sept. 30 at the Bath Country Club. The win was especially sweet, after the Eagles blew up in their final KVAC outing against Medomak Valley to be handed their only loss of the season. “I think maybe that was a good thing from a coaching perspective,” coach Todd Brackett said of the loss to Medomak.
The Eagles were focused in the KVAC championship match-up shooting a four man team total of 160, to beat out Belfast (176), Waterville (182) and Leavitt (183). The KVAC championship was decided on the low team total, which adds the four best scores from each team together. The KVAC win automatically qualifies the Eagles for the State Class B championship. Lincoln will still have played in the KVAC state qualifier on Tues. Oct. 5 for practice on the Natanis Course.
Malcolm Oliver and Stephen Quinlan were low medallist with 39’s. Seward Matel shot a 42, Goran Johanson a 40, Jalen Lincoln a 46 and Alex Cosgrove a 47.
