Lincoln Academy boys’ basketball team captured a 57-47 win over the Lions Friday night in Belfast. The Eagles got off to a slow start, trailing 16-13 at the end of three. Lincoln out scored Belfast 22-12 in the 2nd frame to take a 35-28 lead at the half. Both squads netted 11 in the 3rd period.
Lincoln got a “nice spark off the bench” from Seward Matel (6 points). Devin Scherer “came up with a big three in the 4th quarter, and Merritt Wotton scored five points in the 4th,” coach Chris McKenney said.
Scoring for the Eagles were Ryley Leavitt 14, Jalen Lincoln 10, Bo McLain 8, Matel 6, Dylan Leavitt 5, Wotton 5, Scherer 3, Tom Masters 3, Caleb Farrin 2, and AJ Oliver 1. Scoring for Belfast were Ryan Rice 16, Scott Kulikowski 10, Tyler Prescott 10, Jamie Jackson 4, Ben Lowe 4 and Emerson Gellamattera 3.
Lincoln out scored Mt. View 14-10 in the 3rd to pull within one, 37-36 at the end of three. The Mustangs surged ahead, with the Eagles pulling within two late in the game, but were unable to re-take the lead.
Scoring for Lincoln were Ryley Leavitt 21, Jalen Lincoln 12, Dylan Leavitt 11, Bo McLain 3 and Merritt Wotton 1. Scoring for Mt. View were Porter 15, Montimy 10, St.Clair 7, Babin 5, Wren 5, Reynolds 5, Neally 4, and Gibbs 2.
Lincoln shot 10 for 23 at the foul line, and Mt. View 10 for 18.
Lincoln’s record is 6-7.
