Five Medomak Middle School wrestlers placed at the Pine Tree Wrestling League championship on March 25 at Skowhegan High School. Marshall Sawyer (93) and Tyler Cox (155) placed second, Brady Carter (99) and Nolan Grub (137) placed third and Levi Ward fourth.
Medomak placed sixth as a team. Matttanawcook won with 149.5 points and Troy Howard was second with 128.
Marshall Sawyer (93) pinned Cole Brann (Gar) in 1:13, then beat Mike Welch (SK) by 18-4 major decision to advance to the championship round. Sawyer lost a tough 4-2 decision to Deegan Tidswell (MJHS) to take second.
Brady Carter (99) defeated Wyeth Miller (Ba) by 18-4 tech fall. He was pinned by Landon St.Peter (El) in 45 seconds and pinned Matthew Miles (MtV) in 3:23 to advance to the consolation finals. Carter defeated Tucker Gallagher (Spr) by 4-3 decision to take third.
Gavin Readinger (105) lost to Rakalin Buford (Ba) by 4-2 decision and was eliminated by Cameron Strout (OH) by fall in 2:47.
Nolan Grubb (137) lost an 11-2 decision to Conor Bell (Gar), beat Jeremy Harmon (SUGG) by 12-3 major decision and pinned Cam Green (Sko) in 2:55 to advance to the consolation finals. Grubb met up with Bell again in the finals and won by 9-6 decision to place third.
Tyler Cox (155) pinned Bristol Leahy (OH) in 34 seconds, and pinned Ashton Caron (Nok) in 34 seconds to advance to the championship round. Cox lost a 10-2 major decision to Tucker Nicholas (MtB) to take second.
Levi Ward (195) was pinned by Isaiah Oufiero (OH) in 2:33, then pinned Braden Doucette (Dk) in 1:06 and beat Jacob Coghill (Buc) by 4-2 decision to advance to the consolation finals. Ward met up with Oufiero again in the finals, and was pinned in 3:28 for fourth place.
Sam Sampson (240) was pinned by Jream Tripp (OH), pinned Calvin Gould (Nok) in 1:54, and was eliminated by Thomas Folickemer (Dur) in 1:26.
