Tom Gildersleeve, 20, of New Harbor, has committed to play collegiate ice hockey at the University of New England next season. Gildersleeve began his hockey adventures as a five-year-old in Long Island, N.Y., playing roller hockey. He has traveled all over the country playing the sport he is passionate about.
“We are very proud of him because only about 1 percent of kids who play youth hockey ever get to play in college,” his father Tom Gildersleeve said.
By age 10 he traveled to Minnesota to play in a national tournament. He placed second in a shootout competition at the tournament.
